SRUC: Research Fellow (social science applied to animal welfare)

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in the Animal and Veterinary Sciences department and contribute to the development of an exciting research programme investigating social science applied to perspectives of animal welfare. Specifically, we are seeking someone to develop research ideas to understand more about different perspectives on animal welfare, and to contribute to influencing human behaviour change to improve aspects of animal welfare. Where appropriate the post would also contribute to aspects of our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, particularly through supervision of research student projects.

You will join us working 35 hours per week and in return you will receive a competitive salary of up to £60,049.39 per annum plus excellent benefits...The Veterinary Department are responsible for ensuring that the behaviour and welfare, husbandry and treatment of cats in Cats Protection's care is maintained to a high standard at all times and also work to improve the welfare of the general cat population."

Animal Welfare Foundation Trustee

"AWF is BVA’s animal welfare charity with a mission to use veterinary knowledge to improve the welfare of animals through research, education and debate.

We’re looking for 4 to 5 new trustees from the veterinary and animal welfare professions, from primary care through to academia and the commercial veterinary sector.

In addition to experience working in veterinary and animal welfare – we are also looking for people who possess one or more of the following skills: strategic planning, business leadership, knowledge of charity governance and finance, strong connections within the veterinary commercial sector and/or academia, an understanding of animal welfare legislation, experience of grant giving and assessment of research proposals.  We’re also particularly interested in applications from people with an interest in or understanding of human behaviour change and theory of change..."
